I received an ARC for an honest review. Here is that review.
Okay, who doesn’t love a good twisty rabbit hole to get lost in? I’m a Swiftie fan and I’m always falling into that idea that there’s an easter egg hinting at Taylor Swift’s next album. How cool would it be if there was an internet game that was kind of like that? Where you go all over to solve things?
Now, think of just that but with murder. Oh, and you’re a teenaged POC girl who just happened to come across the murdered body of a woman you’ve known a huge chunk of your life. A woman from a higher class structure. Oh, and you’re now possibly being pinned for the murder?
It’s a good thing Thea happens to be a smart girl and good with games.
Specimen is Lisa Towles newest suspense that follows Thea as she, her best friend Fergus, and a street smart wise guy named Kit Fury, are forced to play an internet game that goes all through San Francisco. It is well written with a detailed narrative and memorable characters.
I found every twist to be interesting where I was battling whether to keep reading or organize my thoughts. Just so you know, I decided to keep reading. Definitely grab this book if you love murder mysteries or games because you’ll be going through one helluva uber ride.
