Reading the Victorian Novel

I am either seriously a glutton for punishment or extremely cocky. I had decided early on that the next book I’d read is a Victorian novel. Whereas I am able to read a single book in a week at most, it is the Victorian novel or classic that is always able to kick my ass. Is it the flourished wording? Or could it be the excess amount of exposition? Or maybe, it is the convoluted plot twists that seem way to coincidental? Whatever the case may be, THE WOMAN IN WHITE by Wilkie Collins is doing what every classic has done in the past:: beat me to a bloody pulp.

I am seriously debating tossing this book and just going to a lighter read. The problem is, I do love the story and I want to keep reading it. But sometimes, a person needs a break from all the crazy wording and whatnot. I really want to start something new, get the ball rolling with the reviewing and making my number of books read larger. I also want to see HUNGER GAMES, but I promised I’d read the book first.

So, therefore, I have decided to do the one thing I dislike doing but know it’s the only option. I am going to read two books at a time. When I grow tired of Wilkie Collins, I will read something brand spanking new and when that bores or is finished, I will go back to good ol’ Wilkie Collins. By doing this, I hope to grow my book count as well as read a classic that I truly want to finish.

On a completely off topic note, baby swings are the shit. My baby boy loves them and so do I. If you have a child who just loves to look around and be rocked, the swing is the way to go. It’s also a great place to put an infant when they are asleep and you need those extra minutes of rest as well. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get back into the swing of writing my book soon. I’m starting to feel the monotony of life boring into me. A change of pace will be good.
