If you read the last review, you should have seen this coming. If you haven’t, this is the second book to the Indexing series and I read this right after the first. And, I finished this one rather fast.
Reflections follows shortly after the events of Indexing. Henry and Jeff are together and the team is still doing their fairy tale fighting and prevention. There are some more characters introduced, such as a Bluebeard Bride (who is just as awesome as the rest of the team). The overall baddie is connected to the first book and keeps you wanting more. Sure, it’s easy to figure out who it is, but the methods and extra stuff is awesome and enjoyable.
Sloane is still her amazing bitchy self. You also learn her history and just how old she is. I have to say, I wasn’t expecting that old. I knew she was old, but dang. Henry is still doing her saving the world by embracing the Snow White inside her thing. Demi is starting to grow a stronger pair of balls to go with her flute skills. Jeff is typical adorable Jeff. And Andy is still slinging zingers out.
Like the first book, this one was written for an episodic viewing. You can do it like I did, binge reading, or take your time with one episode a day. It doesn’t matter, the story is still strong. However, I feel you’d just end up binge reading because that’s what happened to me.
I’m still in love, if not more in love, with the world McGuire crafted in this series. It truly is an X-Files/fairy tale mix. If you’ve seen The Librarians or Supernatural, think of the fairy tale episodes in each show. The ATI world is exactly like that.
I still want more of the Indexing world and I hope McGuire does revisit it. I don’t know if it’s in the works or is not going to happen as we know it now. Just, as a fan, I want more. So, for now, I will try and find something that is just as enjoyable.
