I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. Needless to say both my husband and I were happy that I didn’t have the need to purchase another book. This book is written by an independent author and it is noticeable in the way it is written, but not in a bad way. THE SATYR’S CURSE is a book with a slightly confusing genre target. I wasn’t sure if I was reading a romance or a horror. To be honest, it was a bit of both, but didn’t have enough of both to really qualify as either genre.

The beginning was a bit slow and the story didn’t really pick up until roughly the middle of the book. I don’t know how the author could change that, but I think I would have liked more horror elements inside. The horror aspect of the book was good and I was definitely on the edge of my seat near the end. I’m a horror junkie though and I feel more could have been placed.

The book is well written and I could see the world Weis created perfectly. I love Jazzmyn’s personality, but aside from her green eyes I really didn’t know what she looked like. The two love interests (Kyle Baker and Julian Deverau) have similar personalities, but I do like the twists Weis presents. However, I feel that a bit more scenes with young Jazz and Mr. JP as well as Kyle and Jazz would help the reader understand Jazz’s relationship decisions.

All in all, I liked the book. It was a bit slow, but the pace quickened wonderfully. I love the way Jazz is written and I love the climax of the book. Another thing I like about the book? There’s a hint at a sequel. And, I will gladly read that one as well.
